Many see the Chandrayaan mission as more of a chest thumping activity by the Indianscientists. so did i. The cost - benefit angle wasnt satisfying. But later i came 2 knowthat India's space program has a commercial end, too. ISRO's marketing arm is Antrix Corp., a registered for-profit company. one site said "Antrix has been involved in commercial launches since May 1999, when it successfully sent into space Korean and German satellites as piggyback payloads onboard the polar satellite launch vehicle PSLV-C2. (Chandrayaan is being launched on PSLV-C11.) Antrix offers a range of products and services including Indian remote sensing hardware and software, transponder leasing, launch services, mission support, ground systems, spacecraft testing, and training and consultancy."
Now this is gud, nay gr8 info, coz now we can safely look up to the moon to make moneyoutta it!
